Artículo: Prevention and Treatment of Alzheimer’s Disease with Orthomolecular and Lifestyle Interventions

Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is the most common form of dementia in the elderly. To date, there are no established therapies that slow or reverse the course of disease. Dozens of epidemiological associations exist between nutritional and environmental factors and the development of AD, but few studies have been done to explore whether modification of these risk factors changes the course of the disease.

Artículo: Alkylglycerols reduce the stimulating effects of bFGF on endothelial cell proliferation in vitro

1-O-Alkylglycerols (alkyl-Gro) are natural etherlipids with multiple biological activities. We previously demonstrated that alkyl-Gro reduce endothelial permeability. Here we showed that alkyl-Gro reduced the basic Fibroblast Growth Factor (bFGF)-stimulated endothelial cell proliferation in a concentration-dependent manner.

Artículo: Recent Advances in Sports Nutrition

The interest in ‘sports nutrition’ has never been greater. We all know that diet affects athletic performance and that a sound nutritional plan lets an athlete be the best they can be in competition. However, nutrition also plays a large role in the training, adaptation, and preparation for competitions and in the recovery from training and competitions.

Artículo: Which alkylglycerols from shark liver oil have anti-tumour activities

Alkylglycerols (alkyl-Gro) are ether lipids abundant in shark liver oil (SLO), and oral SLO or alkyl-Gro mix from this source have several in vivo biological activities including stimulation of haematopoiesis an immunological defences, or anti-tumour and anti-metastasis activities in vivo. Composition of natural alkyl-Gro mix contains several alkyl-Gro varying by chain length and unsaturation, and individual antitumour activity of each molecule present in natural mix remained unknown…
